Welcome+-

Businesses on the north coast of Scotland are invited to advertise here free of charge,

We donated maps to the Flow Country Partnership as well as passports to the North Highland Way.  Contact them for details.
There is also now a trail in progress from Dunnet Forest to Heathsfield.

Join us here if you want to advertise in our magazine or on on our web site.

This forum has been going for a while now, and, as it faces VisitScotland Web site, we are keen for as many people as possible to see it.  Hopefully our news service will help. http://www.fromthedeskoftinairving.wordpress.com

We present our survey for businesses who want to go green.

Welcome to the new forum for Scottish long distance paths, including those under construction and development.  We are concerned about the A9 and the safety issues the National Cycle Route north of Tain being removed by SUSTRANS due to accessibility issues.  We addressed this with The Highland Council (Jan 2024) and now we have diverted it.

In March 2025, we asked Tesco drivers to keep an eye on things for us and report to us if they saw anything untoward.

This is linked from http://www.gotravellingwithtina.wordpress.com

The rules are the same as for the Caminos web forum.

Note the North Highland Way project is not funded. However, The Highland Council and Nature Scot have committed several tens of thousands of pounds in their time.

The route around Dounreay is the main obstacle.  We keep applying for funds to get people off the road, and keep getting turned down.  Please write to Dounreay to ask why.  Still not fixed.

We recced the whole north coast during the summer of 2024, and found several issues.  We hope to have sorted out the problem around Dounreay, at least we have passed it to one of the Councillors. A visit to the Sutherland Space Hub on 31 August 2024 raised some questions which we are working to alleviate.  The old bridge at Naver will be removed as it is unsafe. We spoke directly to the engineer.

Problems at Puffin Cove on the Caithness and Sutherland border were reported by the Melness Community Council on 13 February 2025.  Please please please respect the puffins' privacy.

We have included Staxigoe as they are doing great work.

In 2024 we enquired of Nature Scot about the possibility of upgrading the Scottish Outdoor Access Code to include disabled access.  It would be at the discretion of the Scottish Parliament.

In 2025 the Rumster log cabin was opened, and now we asked the Long Distance Walkers Association if it is possible to walk from there to Borgie Forest across country.
For landowners who have difficulties, we can help at £70 per hour.  Now that The Highland Council has downgraded its Access Officer role we can help with our 25 years of experience.
It is noted that in England, landowners are responsible for facilities and infrastructure on their land.  We in Scotland are lucky to have Core Paths and the Land Reform (Scotland) Act. Private individuals do not pay for infrastructure unless it is on their land.
