CEOTina Irving <tinadirving@gmail.com>   20:11 (6 minutes ago)   to Philip, Matt, complaintsAll correspondence from and to Stewart Fraser and the CEO will be put here and my chat with Douglas Chisholm on 28th.  Off on 30th until 1st September.  If I am not on the LAFs, I am not on the LAF it's up to Matt to sort out, not me.I will be on Orkney at the OREF Board meeting tonight and on Orkney on Wednesday meeting re the round Scotland coastal path and on 29th June with Argyll.  All information will be on the forum, so you will need to log on to see it all.  I cannot keep emailing and responding to them.  If there are questions arising, Matt can take them to the LAF in September. There are also some in there already from a walker who was doing the coastal route last month.  He just emailed me to tell me he had finished.Highland Adapts emails will also be on the forum, in fact anything to do with the North Highland Way, including from HIE and Nature Scot. I would focus on1.  Why the Highlands and Islands Climate change hub are not assisting this community project. It is what they are paid for.2.  Checking with Mac as to his updates.  If he emails me, the information will be on the forum.I know perfectly well I will not get a response from Karl Rosie.  He never does.

North Highland Way - a community projectTina Irving <tinadirving@gmail.com>   Sun, 18 Jun, 08:07 (1 day ago)   to Joan, MacKenzie, Matt, North, Stephanie, Northwest, Communications, gavin.carr174Dear all,As the North Highland Way is a community project, in that is not funded in the normal manner, I thought that it would be useful to introduce you all.Friends of the North Highland Way, Thurso Development Trust and the North Sutherland Forestry Trust as well as the North West Geopark who we hope will join us as a Friend of the North Highland Way and send me an email to say "hi".MacKenzie Sutherland - Ward Manager who is assisting by seeing the community councils with the consultation and specification for the North Highland Way, and Matt Dent, Highland Council Access Officer.I have asked Joan Lawrie if she can assist with matters with the West Caithness Community Council as there is a particular requirement for a route around Dounreay to get people off the road.  As this is not core path, it is not the Council's responsibility to develop this part of the route.  I am also copying a gentleman at Vulcan and hope he can assist. Dounreay is copied here.My input is to the Local Access Forums, and the development of two more climate change festivals as per my updated web site. It is likely that this work will go to Orkney companies, as the Caithness & Sutherland Rangers don't appear to be interested).Matt with the steering group last week and everything else over the years.I am the person in the County who can make HIE and Dounreay toe the line, and Nature Scot agree. I think probably VisitScotland do as well.  They have no time for Venture North either, as far as I can see. HIE will not cause you further expenditure as they have been doing. Transport Scotland will back the sustainability festival as do Green Destinations.The reason I can only come to the Access Forums is to impart this information, so you can invite me on as an ad hoc member to both providing Mac gets the input from the Community councils and gives that to you as well.It is the only way we can operate without funding and until I get it, it all I can do.  Or be paid for one off jobs such as the problem at Yarrows I just resolved for you, if you take it forward.Here is the current list of Friends of the North Highland Way  It's growing all the time. I am hoping Durness will join us, and the Tongue Hotel, but not heard from either of them, except for the Tongue Hotel to let me know about David Whiteford.   NHI will not take this project from me either.  I have supplied the specification to HIE along with my business plan, so they have no reason not to fund now.  As you know HIE back NHI with public money.Food for thought, and we will catch up in September at the LAF.  I am not available until then.

However, I have no sponsor in Sutherland unless David Whiteford wants to.  You can ask him, I am not spending any more time chasing people.  He had a family crisis last week, that's why he didn't turn up.I am busy now, far too busy for this.  We tried to get a steering group together and failed.

I promised the Customer Service Department that I would look at Dunnet Head as people were complaining about the mess.  Well, there is no mess as far as I can see, or the walkers who walked the whole route.  I was glad to see the Local Access only sites.  It certainly makes people think about driving up there in their motorhomes.  There were only three there when I was, but glad to see there was designated parking. Well done Highland Council - and on the new bus stop. http://www.broughbay.org/archive/items/show/832  Betty and Bernard Heath opened this little woodland in 2011, after I had a student over from the US to clear it all out.  The entrance does not look inviting, even though it is Core Path.  I am in touch with the Caithness and Sutherland Rangers, and maybe they could help clear it again using the Caithness environmental volunteers, of course I can help if I'm not busy.  I suggest that, if we get the money for the consultancy we are looking for, that we sponsor the tearooms at Dunnet Head as the base for volunteers, as I did when I owned it.  I will leave that to the Rangers to arrange, as I don't like to be seen to be interfering at my old place too much.   Let me know what they think, and I'll put it on my list of things to do.  It is possible to walk across country from the wood to the tearoom, as we put in a bridge at the bottom of the front field when we were there. It's often boggy, but doable.  I didn't check it today. I actually think Betty and Bernard handed it to the Dunnet Forestry Trust, but not sure.  I'll leave it to you to find out.  The Rangers are thinking about becoming Friends of the North Highland Way.The group who went out today will let me know about what needs doing on the eastern side of the Head and if Matt could put it on the agenda for the LAF in September, that would be great.  I am attaching a copy of the specification for the Customer Service team so they can see what we are aiming at. Finally, there appears to be a shortage of fuel in the County.  I will bring this up with Douglas Chisholm when I see him on 28th June, and a couple of ideas I have had. No doubt Douglas will let Matt know what was said, but anyway will put it on the report for September and in here, where I now put all emails.
